<subfield code="a">The relationship of ten different Vanda sanderiana collected from different places, three V. sanderiana hybrids, V. lamellata, and Renanthera philippinensis, were studied by comparing the banding patterns of four polymorphic enzymes namely, malate dehydrogenase (MDH), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), acid phosphatase (ACP), and esterase (EST), which were resolved using Tris-histidine as gel and electrode buffer system. A single zone of activity was observed in MDH 1 with two alleles. Two phenotypes were present in this locus. The ALP system is also encoded by a single locus with two alleles generating three banding phenotypes. Two putative loci were observed on acid phosphatase (ACP 1 and ACP 2) with two alleles each. Four different banding phenotypes were observed in this enzyme system. Lastly, a single locus was also observed in EST1 with three different alleles and five different banding phenotypes. Utilizing the five loci mentioned above, all but two Vanda sanderiana hybrids were genotypically differentiated from each other.</subfield>
