<subfield code="a">The study aimed to develop a questionnaire based on the Health Belief Model that can be used to determine what factors are likely to affect adherence to sodium restricted diets (SDs) among selected university employees. The sample consisted of 348 subjects who were identified through stratified random sampling. Factorial validity and reliability of constructs were determined through principal component analysis (PCA) and cronbach's alpha, respectively. Reliability was further investigated through item-total correlation. Reliability analysis reveals that all of the constructs have good internal consistency (.72-.83) while PCA results show that there are three main factors that are likely to affect the decision to comply with a sodium restricted diet instead of 6. The three factors explained 27.45% of the total variance. Component 1, attitude contributed 8.55%; component 2, cues to action contributed 8.36%; and component 3, attitude contributed 10.84%. Further studies are recommended to demonstrate the ability of the questionnaire to. assess its ability to predict adherence to sodium restricted diets.</subfield>
