<subfield code="a">The main objective of the study was to assess the psychosocial attributes and academic performance of grade six pupils. Specifically, it sought to: describe the demographic profile of grade six pupils in terms of : age, gender, educational attainment and parents income; determine the level of self-concept of the grade six pupils in English, Filipino, Mathematics and MAKABAYAN; assess the parents' parenting styles: permissive, authoritarian and authoritative; ascertain the level of academic performance of grade six pupils; correlate the academic performance and demographic profile, self-concept and parenting styles; and identify the variables that best predict academic performance. In determining the level of academic self-concept and academic performance in the four core subjects of grade six pupils, descriptive statistics particularly frequency counts and percentage was used. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation was employed to determine the relationship of academic performance and: demographic profile, self-concept and parents' parenting style while multiple regression was used to identify the variables that best predict academic performance. Majority of the pupils were aged twelve and most are females; almost half of the parents were high school graduates; and the parents' monthly income belong to poverty line. The pupils' were positive on their self-concept in the English, Filipino, Mathematics and MAKABAYAN. Pupils find interest in the four different subjects in relation to their academic achievement. The respondents' parents practiced sometimes the three parenting styles namely: permissive, authoritarian and authoritative. In terms of academic achievement, almost half of the pupils belong to proficient. Thus, demographic profile is not associated with academic achievement only self-concept and parenting styles are associated with grade six pupils' academic achievement level. Furthermore, English self-concept and permissive parenting styles are the variables that best predict the academic achievement of pupils.</subfield>
