Summary:The demand for increasing health services led health administrators to implement a rural service-oriented program for medical and nursing graduates known as Rural Health Practice Program. This article assesses the Rural Health Practice Program by focusing on the program objectives in terms-o appropriateness, adequacy, efficiency, effectiveness and unintended side-effects. It further examines the existing administrative structure and explores the behavioral dimension via an analysis of the perception of the program participants towards the program.
